It had been a month since Axel was named king, and he was named king about a week after his father was murdered, the entire week had been used by prepping everything for Axel's reign.
Axel was seated on the throne, since he was to be king, he would need a queen to bear his heir and help him rule. Axel was a bit shy about the idea, so he rejected most of the female daemons, others he merely said "Maybe..." to. Eventually though, it came down to several members of the royal council picking out a female for him, that is what was going on today was the deciding of which female of the kingdom was a better match. Oroan was also invited to offer his input. Bracken was there, seeing as Axel was simply sitting in the throne room with guards everywhere, there was really no need for him to be there.

It had not been the most pleasant month. The battle against the traitor faction had been a victory, but it had come at a great cost. Oroan never considered himself to be very sentimental, and that was because he wasn't. However, bringing the body of the king back from that battle could have only been described as heart wrenching to Oroan. He served the royal family for many reigns, and this had been the most tragic loss.
However, there was no to for mourning after the funeral services. The prince, Oroan's pupil in combat, had to take the throne, and he would need guidance, and also a queen to help insure that the bloodline of the royal family endured. Therefore Axel had requested help. It wasn't a matter of females not being attracted to him, but the prince being indecisive. Understandably so.
This is why Oroan headed the the throne room. He was glad that his student and king was the type to call on those who would help him. Otherwise the kingdom would likely be facing a dire threat. The doors to the throne room opened and the nightmarish Knight of the Eclipse walked through, most lower daemons cowering from the fear inducing pheromones coming from him, other not affected. He stopped to kneel in front of the throne, before his king and Bracken who was at his side. Despite Oran's power, he was as loyal to the royal family as possible, and always followed proper protocol. "Greetings my lord, how is the search for your bride proceeding?" he asked.

Axel had been pondering weather or not to just call the whole search for the perfect bride off. But when Oroan asked how his search was going, he said softly, "Absolutely horrid...." he shook his head. "I can't believe I can't choose a bride.... I might have the whole royal Court find one for me. Not sure though..." he said, gently tapping the arm of his throne. "Truth be told, I just can't decide, all those females seem so hopeful... I'd hate to let any of them down, but I know the law well enough, I can only choose one bride." He said with a sigh.

Oroan couldn't help but give a mental chuckle at the situation and the comment about letting the females down. He and the king were almost opposites in the aspect of attraction. While Oroan was a terrifying sight to behold, even to his own kind. The king was highly desired by the females of their race, rumor had it that other races with certain tastes were the same.
He rose to his feet and looked thoughtful for a moment. "Well, I have happened to meet a fur-bearer that might be suitable. Like many women I'm sure she'll be delighted, and there is a chance that you two would get on rather well." He said. Oroan had met the young woman he was referring to not long after he had awakened from his hibernation, in fact she had been assigned to tend to him during that time of his current incarnation. He hadn't thought of this until now.

Axel hiked an eyebrow at Oroan, tilting his head. "I might try it..... I don't believe any of my family before me has ever married a fur-bearer...." he said thoughtfully. Then sighed and said "I suppose it would be my best option.... though I would be letting all those other females down...." and shook his head slightly. "Suppose the only way to find out would be to try...?" He said with a slight curiousity in his voice.

"It might be best to think of this as something to help take a step forward my liege." Oroan replied. Despite the fact he despised the treacherous fur-bearers, they were not all against the daemons, this was proof of that, just as all Daemons couldn't be trusted, each side would have members that didn't care for the rest.
This was another moment Oroan wished he could give a smile. "She is surprisingly... likable for a fur-bearer." He added as he remembered how she tended to him. It wasn't long until she was brought in.
Euryale could be considered attractive to daemons, fur-bearers, and even some of those rare humans. She looked a little nervous as she had never been in the throne room. Though at seeing Oroan she looked a little more at ease, one of the few who would be more at ease in his presence. Kneeling before the throne she waited until she was addressed. Waving a clawed hand with flourish, Oroan introduced her. "My liege, meet Euryale, a gem of both beauty and character." He said, keeping his tone pleasant so as to keep things comfortable for everyone involved. This was a new direction they might be about to take, and he wanted this to go right. his duty was to the kingdom and the royal family, and therefore he would take certain things and push them forward for the good of both.

"Euryale? Very pretty name just as she is a very pretty lady, might I say, m'lady, even the most beautiful of daemon females could not match your beauty." He said, smiling at her. Axel was a friendly, very sweet guy, he was quite a lady's man which was another reason he was so popular with so many females. He tilted his head, wondering if she would reply.

Euryale looked up at the king. She had of course seen him here and there through the castle while tending to her duties, her family was a loyal one, though it was rare. "Thank you your majesty, I'm flattered to hear such at hing from you." She replied. She knew how to be polite, and had respect for the king, though it was clear she wasn't mindlessly hailing Axel due to his position, she had heard a fair amount about him from Oroan from time to time and he come to like what she had heard.
Oroan for his part had walked over to one of the windows which allowed him to look out over the kingdom. While he was sure that this would lift his king's spirits, he himself felt very hollow at the present time. He had failed as one of the knights of DragonFang. He hadn't been able to protect the king and while he had been following orders, and knew it hadn't been his own fault, knowing and feeling were two very different things.

"Tell me, Euryale, would you at all mind taking a stroll with me in the gardens?" He asked her kindly, "I, myself, would be delighted to have you with me while I take my daily stroll.... wouldn't be quite as lonesome." he said softly, smiling at her.

Euryal gave a nod and a smile as she slowly rose to her feet, knowing that such an invitation would also mean that she should stand. Walking over to the king she gently gripped his arm wrapping both of hers around it. "It would be a great pleasure my lord." She said as she waited for him to lead the way.
Oroan for one looked rather pleased with himself. He felt that this was a great step in the right direction, with a little guidance and a queen at his side to preserve the bloodline, Oroan felt hope for his land for the first time since the king's death. Walking over to Bracken and gave a mental chuckle. "It seems things took off without a hitch doesn't it." He commented, it was clearly not a question.

Axel smiled as she gripped his arm, he gently pulled her along with him toward the gardens. "So, Euryale, tell me about yourself, would you? Or did Oroan tell me everything I need to know?" He asked her, smiling at her.
